CHAIRMAN’S  PROFILE - Mr. Wale Odunlami FCA

 Mr. Wale Odunlami was born 49 years ago at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.  He attended Loyola College Ibadan [1961-1966] and University of Ibadan [1970-1975] graduating with B. Sc (Hons.) Degree in Botany.  He had its Accountancy Training at the Firm of the then Coopers and Lybrand, Lagos between 1979 and 1982.  He was admitted an Associate, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria [ICAN] March 1985 and a fellow of the Institute in 1989.  He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria [CITN] and Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria [IMCON].

  Mr. Odunlami was Chief Accountant/Company Secretary of General Appliance Company Limited [GACOL] Lagos between 1982 and 1984 and went into full time practice as a Financial/Tax Consultant from January 1985 to date.  Mr. Odunlami is a Director of HLT Industries :Limited [a haulage Company].  Ojodu Abiodun Community Bank. Ojodu and Proprietor of Cambridge College, Ikeja.

  His contributions to professional Institute include Council member.  Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria [1988 - 1993] and he is the current Chairman of      the Ikeja District Society of ICAN.  Mr. Odunlami is a Christian, an elder of Life Gate International Church and the Chairman of the TV Club of the Church.  He is a member of Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.  A keen sportsman, his hobbies include traveling, playing squash rackets, golf and billiards Snookers.  Of course, he is married with children.

 

CHAIRMAN’S  PROFILE - Mr. C. I. Ede FCA

 The chairman for Ikeja District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nigeria for 2000/2001 year is Mr. Cyril Ikemefuna Ede.  Born 50 years ago in Akpawfu Nkanu East Local Government Council of Enugu State, his profile is as fascinating as it is inspiring.

 A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria as well as that of England and Wales, he holds a Diploma in Business and Industrial Law from University of Lagos and a Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Management Technology, Enugu.  As if these are not enough, he is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management, fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation and an Associate member Lancashire Enterprise Development, United Kingdom. Mr. Ede was before establishing his firm, C. I. Ede & Co., Audit manager and consultant with reputable audit firms as Pannel Kerry Forster & Co., Egunjobi Sulaimon & Co., and BDO Balogun Badejo & Co., and Chief Accountant and General Manager with Nigerian Plastic Industrial Manufacturing Company Ltd. Ikeja, Lagos.

 His other areas of usefulness to humanity include; member of council, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, 1991-12999, Chief Examiner, Chartered Institute of Taxation 1995-1999, Editor and chairman of the Editorial Board, Nigerian Taxation Magazine 1991-1995, and General Secretary, Association of Enugu State professionals, Lagos.  He also serve as Consultant, Economic affairs to the Enugu State Board of Internal Revenue.

 His hobbies include: reading, writing newspaper articles, presenting papers at academic fora, playing lawn Tennis and watching Television!

CHAIRMAN’S  PROFILE - Tayo Phillips FCA

An enviable career built on solid foundation, Tayo Phillips FCA Chairman, 2001/2002 of IDSICAN was born about 40 years ago.  He started his education at the renowned Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikeja.

 An Alumnus of Ibadan Polytechnic where he bagged a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy, he also crowned his academic qualification with an MBA at the University of Lagos.

 A Chartered Accountants of distinction, he had a professional practice experience with A. B. Adepeju & Co. and Babalola Adesoji & Co. after which he switched camp into the industrial environment working with UTC Nig. Ltd., African Petroleum and later Xerox H. S. Nig. Ltd. where he rose to become the Finance Director.

 Tayo as he is fondly called by friends is well travelled man who has attended several local and international course.  He is a family man.  Among his several awards are the cannon pears Memorial Scholarship.  Most outstanding employee of the year 1994 and the Best Director of the year 2001, the last two at his present employment.  His past and present services in the Ikeja District Society are:

 He had served in various Sub-Committee of the District some of which he headed as Chairman.  Also he is Assessor of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria since 1990.

 His hobbies include playing golf, dancing, traveling and playing table tennis.

CHAIRMAN’S  PROFILE - Comfort Olu. Eyitayo FCA

A woman of substance with solid background and many laureates to her credit.  A woman of many parts, is successful Chartered Accountant, Computer Audit Specialist as well as a business woman of note.

 Comfort Olu. Eyitayo was elected chairman of  Ikeja District Society of ICAN (IDSICAN) on Thursday June 20, 2002 at the Secretariat at No. 50, Olowu Street, Ikeja.  She was nominated by Mr. S. B. Osho while Mr. H. A. Akiyode seconded the nomination.  Her nomination was unopposed and was duely elected.  Her Investiture Ceremony which was witnessed by distinguished Nigerians from all walks of life took place one week later in the Executive Function Hall on Onyx Plaza in Ikeja.

 The Ceremony was honoured by Past President of ICAN, the Registrar/CE, the Administrator of ICAN, the President and the Registrar/CE of Taxation, Past Chairmen of IDSICAN, Council members of ICAN amongst others.

 Comfort Olujumoke Eyitayo was born over four decades ago.  She had her college education at the great Lagos City College Yaba (A. K. A. “LACICOYA”).  She had a brief working experience after her ‘A’ levels at United Bank for African before she proceeded to UK for further studies.

 She attended Hammersmith and west London College between 1978 and 1980 where she obtained her HND in accounting at Upper Credit.  She attended University of London where she obtained Diploma in Applied Economics.  She later proceeded to Sheffield City Polytechnic where she obtained the Polytechnic Qualification for Accounting Graduate, tagged Polytechnic Associateship in Accountancy (PAA) from there she obtained her level II qualification of Association of Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA).

 She attended London School of Accountancy (LSA) preparatory to the final part of ACCA.  However, she had to return home to Nigeria before she could conclude her ACCA Exams in order to be with her family.  On her return to Nigeria, she joined one of the leading Accounting Firm known then as Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co. as Audit Trainee, assisting in various audit assignments and related Tax matters.  She eventually converted to ICAN, back in Nigeria and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987.

 After her qualification, she carried out audit assignments as Auditor-in-charge and leader of the audit team for various Organisation.  1989 a Computer audit department was set up as a complementary arm for audit assignment.  She was transferred to this new department and was saddled with the responsibility of organising the department and liaising with other audit departments for their computer audit assignments.

 In 1990, she was seconded to the International office of KPMG Mclintock for Computer Audit Specialist Course for training.  During her secondment to UK, she had the opportunity to develop herself further on IT matters.  The IT knowledge combined with her Accountancy qualification formed the bedrock of her company’s business activities to-date.  Additional to the secondment programme she enrolled with West London College for a Computer course designed for the syllabus of the London body of Computer Professionals.  At the end of the course, she sat for the external exams of the Association and passed all her papers at the very first sitting and thereby qualified and became an Associate member with designation of ACP.

  At end of her programme, she returned to Nigeria, a satisfied professional on both counts.  She carried out several computer audit assignments as well as organising seminars and workshop and being part of the resource persons for same.  After a fulfilling career with Messrs. Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co., and a desire to be her own boss, Mrs. C. O. Eyitayo resigned her appointment with the Firm and established her own company, MCL Compaigne Limited which she manages till date.

 She has served in Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Ikeja District (IDSICAN) in several capacities including serving as the Treasurer (Ex-chequer!) for three years a position, where she performed creditably well even to the extent of earning her a nick name of ‘Iron Lady’ and ‘Margaret Thatcher’ of IDSICAN.

 In July 2001 she became the Vice Chairman of IDSICAN. She assumed the highest office of the District in June 2002 when she was elected the Chairman, Ikeja District Society of ICAN.  She is married and blessed with three lovely men.

 

CHAIRMAN’S  PROFILE - Mr. Gbadura Saka FCA

 HE attended Nigerian Premier College, Yaba [Evening Section] from 1973 to 1977 and later Yaba College of technology, Yaba [1985-1988, 1991 - 1995] for both his National and Higher National Diplomas in Accountancy.  In 1997 he proceeded to University of Ado-Ekiti for his Master Degree in Business Administration.  A course he completed on record time in 1999.

 He passed the final examination of the Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in 1990.  He was admitted an Associate of the Institute in 1991 and that of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria in 1993.  HE was elected fellow of the two bodies in 2001.  He is a member of Nigerian Institute of Management.

 He had a long and distinguished working career with Berger Paints Nigeria Plc.  Ten of the years were at Senior management position.  A self starter, his working career commenced in 1974 from the lower rung of the ladder as clerk/typist.  By dint of hard work, dedication, patience and desire to excel in all given tasks, progressed to the middle and eventually at the senior management position.  His working career spanned all units in Accounts Department culminating in his appointment as Financial Controller in 1995.  He resigned his appointment in 2001.

 He had a stint in management consultancy practice between 2001 and 2002 where he was part of a team identifying strategic business issues and drives in client organisations and profering practicable solutions to them.  Mr. Saka joined North-West Communications Limited in 2003 as Chief Accountant.  He won the chairman’s Group Award Year 2003 in recognition of his excellent performance to the company and her sister organisations.

 He joined the Executive Committee of Ikeja in 1997.  He was elected Assistant General Secretary in 1998, General Secretary in 2000 and Vice Chairman in 2002 before his election as Chairman in 2003.  He had served on various Sub-Committee of the District Society.  HE is the Treasurer of the ‘G-10 Club since 1977.  The Club is an off-shoot of University of Ado-Ekiti MBA 1997/1999 Set.
